Join YTB?? Knowing what I've known in the past and what I know now, there is NO WAY I could.
Now these are just MY "opinions" based on written and proven FACTS on the company...no "He Said, She Said" information.
I was approached with joining YTB about a year ago. It was a great concept but the first thing that bothered me was the investment. I think @ that particular time it was like $349, which didn't seem like a good investment @ the time. Later I was approached about travel by a guy in Des Moines Iowa, (Pastor Marcus "PB" Brewer...Mr. Training...lol).....I was hesitant at first until he told me it wasn't about joining YTB, but, it was TraVerus Travel . After reviewing the info thoroughly and comparing to others, I hopped on board less than 2 weeks later.
I have found success with TraVerus Travel , getting started on 1 May 2007, and have NO regrets.
What do I call success....well if I can make what most people make in a year on their JOBS in the same given year...am I not successful? If not...what does that say about the person on the job that probably went in debt for 4 years of schooling...Hmmmmmm.
Ok, that's part of my story and here are a FEW reasons WHY I feel joining YTB to be for me was way off the mark.
1. THE INVESTMENT........This is one of the first thing anyone should look at when looking at a company. Remember when I was turned off by $349? Well now to join YTB it's $499 (licensing fee/1st months website maintenance) to be a RTA (referring travel agent) ...and an additional $149 to become a "Certified" RTA .
Not to mention, you now have to PAY for each additional online travel test.
Hmmmmmm......$499 with a referral company or $149/$349 with a real Hosting Travel Agency.
You do the math.
2. Reps
This may not bother some. I realize a business is only what one makes out of it. But by that same token, I would hate to be an owner of a company of 240,000 business partners with only 40,000 or so (less than 1/4) active. Thats not saying too much about my company. Why the drastically low numbers?? Hmmmmm..whats not right? It can't be that 200,000 people just "couldn't cut it."....no, there has to be reasons WHY!
As of 2/08 numbers, click here.
3. The Marketing Region
Ever wonder why McDonalds and Bill Gates are successful? Well, one of the keys is being able to do business worldwide.
At the present moment when you join YTB, your marketing region is narrowed down to the U.S., Bahamas, Bermuda and after a 2nd or 3rd try... Canada (where they are not even referred to as "Travel Agents" ) Hmmmm!
TraVerus Travel is in the U.S including Canada ....and Over 90 Other Countries..Can You Say WOW!
I think I've covered enough for now....AGAIN these are my personal opinions backed by facts alone and not hearsay.......just some of the reasons why I would not join YTB.

TraVerus Travel says this......to be a RTC (referring travel consultant)...$149 (licensing fee/1st months website maintenance) with various ways to become a CTA or invest $349 upfront, take your certified travel training and testing to become a CERTIFIED TRAVEL AGENT ...not "Certified" RTA.
