Investing $500

What could investing $500 do for you right now? Many people would think....pay a bill or two, a car note and for some they would apply it to their rent. That kind of money in todays economy is kind of steep for the average family to let go of. Investing $500 from the household is peanuts to some, but this amount taken away from the average income family one time could be a direct effect of falling behind on bills. While most people were waiting on their tax rebate check status to fill in the void, others were trying to figure out what jobs pay the most just to earn an additional $500 a month.

Well this was my situation a while back. I'm an avid Madden Football player on PS2. Well when the PS3 came out, you know I had to have it right? I needed the new upgraded console for better graphics. Well guess what...the PS3 I wanted with the 80 gb hard drive was $499 (no games included and one controller). Sure I was able to afford it at the time, but why spend what I don't have to without at least checking around first. My next plan of action was to shop around for a better deal. Lo and behold, after searching and talking to people, I was able to get the 80gb PS3 that I wanted and it came packed with 2 wireless controllers and 3 games. Though I was excited and ready to pull out my wallet my question was..."Whats the catch?" The guy in the game store said "There is no catch, luckily you shopped around and found the same product for less and was able to get additional incentives that you weren't getting at that other stores $499 price."

So now just like a kid, I'm sharing with friends where they can make that same investment that I made and not spend their hard earned $500...when they can get much more for less. We have "Madden Tournaments" from time to time and sit back and laugh at the day we almost mishandled that $500 investment .
